Photo V feed and speed

Post by zbaldridge »

I've searched around for some good starter feed and speeds for carving images in hardwood with not a lot of luck. I'm using a 60degree 1/4 carbide v-bit, and am using the default speeds in PVC (100" permin). I know there is some tweeking to be done, but are there any updated figures anyones using? I'm running 18k rpm on a spindle. Quality looks good, but being new to shopbot and wood milling, dont know if things can run faster carving out such little material. Thanks
