My first try at lithphanes

Post by js11110 »

Hey everybody here is a lith of my goddaughter Alexis. Size is 4.5"X4.5" cut using a 1/8 ball to rough and a 1/16 ball end mill to finish. Took 1-1/2 hours start to finish. Thanks for everyones input and help on this!

Looks good man. Is that a current picture of you? You look pretty young to be running a CNC machine.
Take it easy.

HA-HA! Thats my god daughter. I cut it in 5 1/2"x5 1/2"1/2" thick corian. I pocketed out a 4 3/4"X 4 3/4" pocket 1/4" deep and then did the litho.

I was given a couple peices of solid surface countertop that are not corian. I dont recall what he called. Is all this stuff the same? Im kinda hesitant to cut it because it feels quite hard.......almost like a stone type material although I think he said it was a fiberglass based material.

Cute child too I am sure you are proud.

Solid Surface is the generic name for Corian. DuPont makes corian, but there are many other brands- Avonite, Gilbraltor, and quite a few others that are the same. It feels hard, but cuts like butter. Try to use white or the the lightest color you can find.
