tools for PhotoVcarve?

Post by auga »

I am new to PhotoVcarve and been looking at tool selections. I looking at using a 1/16 ball taper bit. I be
cutting to Walnut in the 10" X 12" size.

I seen some use 60 Degrees also. What are the thought process for 60 degrees vs 1/16 or 1/32 ball tapers?
Any experienced advised would be helpful.

Thanks

cutting to Walnut
If you are going to be doing photographs I think you will find that walnut is too dark for good results. For photos select a light colored wood with minimal grain such as hard maple.

a V-bit that comes to a sharp point will allow for greater detail, and they tend to be less fragile. (my opinion)
