I use solid carbide 3-flute spiral ball-nose bits. The flutes and spiral help eliminate bit chatter leaving a smoother cut.

I use 1/8 ball nose off eBay. Ten buts for 15 bucks. Solid carbide.

I use a 1/4 inch 60^ v bit or an engraving bit to the the line carvings.
