GrandpawB is still lost.

Post by GrandpawB »

OK, I watched the PhotoVCarve videos and followed them step by step. (I thought) I loaded my photo and set all the parameters the software asked for. I sent it to Mach3. I load up Mach3 and loaded my photo. All I get is a blue triangle. Where’s my photo? Did I do something wrong, or am I on Candid Camera? Any suggestions?

When you previewed it in PhotoVcarve did it look ok?
If not, let's deal with the PhotoVcarve issue first.
If that was fine then let's go after the Mach 3 issue

Posting the file is frequently helpful.

I will let the Mach 3 users pick it up from here. A screen shot of what you are seeing may help.

How far in are you zooming with the Mach3 Preview?

As PhotoVCarve creates its toolpath as many close together lines it will look just like a blue blob if you're not zoomed right in.

Might not be the issue but it's an easy thing to check.

Is the outline of your picture a triangle? If so, then run the file. If not, then something is wrong. In Mach 3, you won't "see" your picture, only the outline and a bunch of blue lines. As long as your picture looked fine in PVC and you used the right processor, it should cut the way it looks.

You can always set the tool to cut 1" above the work - then watch to see where it is going.

Then - you can set the tool to just scratch the top surface - just so see.

Once you are satisfied - you can set the tool to the correct setting and do the cutting.

If you are cutting a job with many lines spaced closely together, it will tend to look like a solid mass of lines on the initial Mach3 screen. However, if you click on the "toolpath" tab you will see a bigger version of the toolpaths, and you should be able to see something more understandable.
