Image load problem

I've used PhotoVCarve a number of times, mostly for lithophanes. A few days ago I worked on a new design, but then when I went back to change it, all I could get is a black rectangle where my image had been. Since then every time I try to load any jpg, I get the same thing. From a split second glimpse I got at one point I think the image is there, but the black box overlays it. Has anyone else had this problem or knows of a solution?

OK, this was odd. I opened the image I was trying to use in a photo editing program. After messing around for awhile and then discarding my changes, PhotoVCarve opened it as it is supposed to do. No idea why that made a difference, but it's working. BTW, even when I couldn't see the image, PhotoVCarve would still do the preview.

I suspect the issue was the size of the image file I was trying to use. When I found a larger version, it opened up ok. Regardless, the preview of the toolpath showed up as expected even when I couldn't view the jpg.
