positioning (and repositioning I find difficult) is very important so that you do not spend a lot of time cutting air .. or mis-cutting your model.
I have a CNC Shark and have developed the technique to get the X and Y co-ordinates to the proper 0 . .but z still can be out a few thousands.
Has anyone developed a near foolproof way to reposition your work if you need to stain/paint/to-something-else and then recut the final profile.
I have seen the tutorial re the rough and final cuts .. but do not understand .. for example do you do a rough cut with say a 1/8" ball nose, a 20% overlap and a max cut say .15" .. .then reload the 1/16" ballnose, rezero, the do a 10% overlap and a max depth of say .17" ...
Comments please ..
ps .. the new NewWaveAutomation Basic Panel has some really nice new features to help here.
roughing and final cuts
Re: roughing and final cuts
I have a Shopbot with an accessory called a "Z-Zero Plate". This link explains how the plate is used. http://shopbotwiki.com/index.php?title=ZZeroing.
This accessory is very easy to use. I don't know if botters with other machines are using the Shopbot's Zero plate.
I'm sure there are shop made versions of this that people are using.
Have you contacted CNC Shark to see if they offer a zero plate?
I went to youtube and did a search for CNC zero plate. This link is the result.
