Help PhotoVCarve on wood
Am kindly seeking for help with PhotoVCarve.
I have tried on several occasions and still despite following step by step from the videos it is still challenging.
Kindly help.
See attached photo of what is my result on wood.

One thing I can see from your original picture is that you didn't set the background to be transparent which will help the main picture stand out. In Step 1 (Open Image) check the "Make color transparent" box and then use the Select... button to activate the "eyedropper" and click on the background.
Setting the contrast in Step 3 to 100% helps with dark skinned portraits I've found as well.
Also try a tool with a point (true v-bit) rather than an engraving bit that has a flat tip. That will give you more lines that are more sharply defined.
Finally the cut piece doesn't always show well until you've stained it as the difference in the depths of the grooves will really show then.

The piece looks good enough that I would try the stain and scrape process now.
