I have a working Excel file that creates CSV files that when used with Paul Rowntree's csv to 2d vectors it will create all parts of a cabinet with full dado's. I have been building cabinets for a living for quite some time and I still hand drew lots of parts. I am wondering if someone is willing to help turn this into a useable stand alone gadget without the need to create the CSV's in excel. It would consist of a fill in sheet for specs, then a master selection page for entering the size and type of cabinet. Sub pages would do the calculations that excel does and have it put the parts directly in Vcarve or aspire.
I use toolpath templates from there as my parts go into vcarve with layers. Automatic toolpaths that would work with it would be nicer than having to create the toolpaths, even though the use of templates makes it very easy. I'm just trying to save some steps on my end of file creation, but what I have is functioning well.
The third request would be part nesting instead of my crude way of calculating where the parts go.
I have included some screen shots of what I have working and one of the upper cabinets created and imported into Vcarve.
I'm wondering if any Gadget Guru's are willing to tackle the project.

Wow, that would be awesome.
Hope someone can help you out. Way above my expertise.

Re: Cabinet Package Gadget
There are lots of cabinet systems that work well with VCarve out there already. Have you tried those? Developing a gadget is not going to be as full featured as those packages and isn't a trivial thing to code. I did a similar system for Sketchup in the pre-Google days and it takes a while.
What's wrong with the nesting in VCarve?

Re: Cabinet Package Gadget
It is very usable as is. I have ran multiple programs and I know their cost. Getting every option with any program never did satisfy me. I also wanted to be able to share it with people that don't have excel, so the two choices are a stand alone program, or gadget. I'm looking in the gadget info, trying to find what It needs to see to create another sheet right now.
It may be possible to have a gadget for an upper cabinet, another for a base, drawer base, etc....

Will it work in LibreOffice? I've dropped M__soft Office and use this in it's place. (it's free)

I have no idea if the excel imitation program will run excel macros or VB code. Thats why I'm leaning towards a gadget. It would be self contained. Ken
