Easy Bottle Carrier Maker

Postby jimandi5000 » Sat Dec 14, 2019 7:15 pm

Hello all,

I got inspired by the 12 Projects of Christmas, those were some fantastic projects. Thank you Vectric team! One of the projects, was a bottle carrier. I had only one issue with the bottle carrier I made, it did not fit my bottles. Thinking this was an awesome build project and that probably several of you would like to build, and customized your own bottle carrier(s); I have produced a Easy Bottle Carrier gadget.

The gadget was designed for double sided milling. This allows the carrier to have dado joints on the inside and the exterior faces can be V-Carved to customize the finished piece. As you can see from the images below, there is a dialogue for user inputs. The user interface supports material thickness, number bottles (2, 4, 6, ... 10, 12, Etc...), bottle diameter, clearance for bottle, bottle height, and several other variables. I've also included help screen that is integrated in the dialogue.

It's time for me to go so, God bless you and your families. I wish each and everyone a very Mary Christmas.

PS. As you know, I'm just getting started learning how to write gadgets in Lua. Please let know if you have any issues.

Although I have not been active with my CNC this winter (Flu,Age, etc), I really appreciate your gadgets. I passed through Houston on my way to my Granddaughters weeding in Fredericksburg in Oct, next time I come through I would love to meet you.

Hi Joe,

Absolutely, come on by. I know what you mean, I am having a health challenge myself, this health thing is keeping me from getting in the shop. So with all this time on my hands, I have been trying to learn how to write Lua gadgets.

I would enjoy getting to meet you. We can have a glass of iced tea, coffee, or Dr Pepper depending on your flavor. I always enjoy bragging on my projects, though I have to say, most of them lend up in the burn pile. My wife calls them failures but I been calling them combustible prototypes. ;)
Thanks,
Jim

I'm working with a buddy of mine who is trying to start a nano-brewery so your post is very timely! Thanks for the download! I'm hoping to make different sizes available in the tasting room when it opens.
I am definitely 'stealing' the 'combustible prototype' label!
Here's to better health for all of you who are having issues! Glad to see you making use of your time in such a constructive way though...
May the good Lord continue to bless you and your family!
