Carving Stone with VCW

Post by Tony Mac »

New User Jens at Scandinvent in Sweden has kindly set us details of his first job cut from stone using the software.

"I did the first test today on a coffee break. This simple text, 100x70 mm, was carved in 30 mm soap stone (similar to soft limestone) and cut in 6 ½ min"

"Designing and setup is a breeze..."

"The tool is a Ø10, 90° PCD (polycrystaldiamond) V-bit (€100 each). It cuts in 5 mm/passes at a feedrate of 400 mm/min., 7500 RPM with plenty of water coolant. I guess this tool will cut at least 300-400 signs of this size and in this type of material."

" I hope this may encourage others to try this in stone (its addictive :) )"

I think Jens is the first VCW ser to machine stone - Thank you for sending the information.
