Rose Cottage

Post by Tony Mac »

We attended the Cutting Edge Trade Show at the weekend with Roland UK where we VCarved this sign on an EGX 600 Engraver.

The material is ColourRout - a real wood veneer on a black mdf core, which is supplied in the UK by - http://www.moranswoodcomponents.co.uk ColourRout is perfect for this type of sign because it doesn't require painting, simply machine through the veneer and into the black base material.

The sign is 460mm x 305mm x 10mm thick (approx 182 x 12" x 3/8" thick) and was engraved using a 100' included angle 0.25mm tip diameter engraving tool and took approx 40 mins to cut.

It's actually a reversable double sided sign with Open on one side and Closed on the other.

Tony, is that "Brian Moran's Wood Components" ?

Looks like really good stuff, it's cut really smoothly. Do you know if they have other colour cores?

Hi John,

No relation to Brian.

Just looking their web site it does say that ColourRout is available in a variety of core colours and thicknesses. It cuts really well and we (Brian's kids actually) rubbed Olive Oil onto the black surfaces to make it shine and stand out. Very nice product that has a 'quality look & feel'.

Hope life down on the coast is good the family are keeping well.

Tony
