Re: Gallery Of Machines
New machine just started up on Saturday evening. it's a modified, narrowed FLA-100 with a Rockcliff Machine driver board. 31" x 11.5" cutting area with 4.5" clearance.
here's hoping for some successful cuts!

Re: Gallery Of Machines
Looks good. Presume you will be adding a spoilboard, and after that you will level the spoilboard with a light cut?

Re: Gallery Of Machines
A spoilboard will definitely be used on my cuts. I have no interest in ruining that nice finish on the table. I do have plans to also run a dial indicator over the table and collect data points on the condition as-is to determine how things are at the moment. you know, find out if there are any low points, slopes that need to be shimmed or worked out.

Re: Gallery Of Machines
Most just bolt a piece of mdf to it, with plastic bolts countersunk into table
Then skim mdf with a wide flatbottom bit to level

woodmizer sawmill and joe's hybrid cnc, a good combination

Re: Gallery Of Machines
This is the machine I started with and got infected with the cnc virus...
It's a BZT PF 750-P with X=430 mm Y=650 mm Z=110 mm
Later on I had something bigger espacially build for me as I requested.
It's a Köhler SK 1609 DI with X=1600 mm Y=900 mm Z=220 mm
Best regards
Markus

Where did you get the black plastic track for your wiring? Looks like what is in the sliding door frame of my minivan.sfsubcutter wrote:New machine just started up on Saturday evening. it's a modified, narrowed FLA-100 with a Rockcliff Machine driver board. 31" x 11.5" cutting area with 4.5" clearance.

Re: Gallery Of Machines
Went middle of the road, not desktop, not Shop Bot.
Z axis came assembled, I put together the rest.
Came with 3 stepper motors, power supply, breakout box, pc cable, wire, wiring instructions, Mach 3 settings.
I bought a Dell PC for $43. Have LED monitor that I wasn't using. Need to buy VCarve and Mach 3. Build table to set it on. Build table and spoil board for bed of machine.
I really enjoyed assembling the parts. Appears to be what we call here in S Illinois as "hell for stout". We will see how well it works once it is in production.
Size is 24X24X4.
Came very well packaged in box with wooden ends so ball screws and rods wouldn't fall out. Every part was checked off the packing list. All the parts were labeled to match the packing list. PDF files for Mach 3 downloaded off of e-bay site.
I've had excellent support from the seller with any questions I have had. No connection, just a satisfied customer.
For what I want to do, this will serve me well.
Will post more pics once it is up and running.
Thanks to all here who have answered my many questions. I'm sure I will have many, many more.
BTW Spalm's work is something I want to tackle first. My wife loves the jewelery box and I'm going to make some of the "salt boxes" as gifts to my sailing friends.
I was advised by a forum member to take my time and practice. I thought that was excellent. Going to buy some 1" foam insulation for practice material.
This forum is an invaluable resource. Thanks to all who make it that way.
