Very nice! I sure wish I had easy local access to different types of wood like that. All I have are the online wood stores who charge a lot for the wood and shipping. However, you first picture was hard to read.

I import from Ocooch Hardwoods in the USA.... can't afford to make mistakes...usually use MDF or pine for testing.
The first image is just showing the model being cut from the canary wood base... no clean up required

AUSSIE = AWESOME
This is an outstanding job on the building of the cowboy box by itself and then
add the 3d modeling you could not of asked for a better built project. Thanks
for posting and I hope to see more projects from you on the forum. your wood
selection was spot on.

I have a couple of vendors in my bookmarks as a 'maybe'. As you know, exotic woods can get expensive. Although I never purchased from this company, I may try sometime. They are in the US and claim to ship International... but there are fees of course.Aussie wrote:Thank you all.

My plan would be to purchase small and then join them to make a decent size for a project. I have worked on many projects since I got my Chinese 6040 machine early in this year... but I haven't found too many worth spending a lot of money on exotic wood. I did find a deal on ebay for a dark walnut that was 6" x 24" and .5" thick. There was 5 of them and I didn't have to glue too many. All for $50 + shipping. I jumped on it and made a keepsake box for my wife which was a modified Michael's Mothersday Keepsake project. Of course she loved it and the wood is so awesome. No stain. Just a bit of teak oil and presto!

Bell Forest Products is a good vendor. Purchased from them many times with no issues. They ship quick and prices are fair. Quality of product has always been spot on. If you sign up for email alerts they send out 10% coupons a couple times a year.

Thanks JoeBlow... I didn't know about the 10% coupons. That would help if you have a large order. Since you've purchased from them... is their wood sent out with pre-made edges for glueing... or did you have to use a joiner or such?JoeBlow wrote:ezurick wrote:I have a couple of vendors in my bookmarks as a 'maybe'. Your box came out beautiful Aussie and nice machine you have there
Although they don't advertise their lumber as straight line edged, you could probably get away with joining as shipped. I layed up a few boards this morning from them and surprisingly they lay nicely without further milling. I highly recommend jointing all boards prior to any joining, however. Nice thing about the cnc is it is also a great jointer with no snipeezurick wrote:Thanks JoeBlow... I didn't know about the 10% coupons. That would help if you have a large order.
