I had a request for a Memorial plaque after some pics of the open book, I've done in many iterations, were shown.
I purchased the model from D&M, and used it on a piece of walnut that I've had around my shop for about 20 years.
I think it came out fairly nice, but the customer absolutely loves it.
That is what makes doing this craft worth it.

Beautiful work.
I think it's always the case where you as the craftsman will always see flaws and areas that could be better, but I've found that most other people just see the beauty of the piece.
Well done.
Thanks for sharing.

Like John said, sometimes we're our own worse critics
But so long as she loves the piece(and she Should!), that's the most important thing!
Rare is the thing we couldn't have done better in at least one spot...and do better the next time:)
Beautiful piece and craftsmanship!!
(How many times have you looked at that Walnut short....and wondered what the Heck you were going to use it for )
Well Done!

I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself

Thanks for the kind comments.
I, in fact, do see all of my mistakes, or something I wish that I would've done differently. But as long as the recipient is pleased, that's always a win.
I'm always learning every time I turn on the machine. I don't get to use it as often as I would like, but sometimes life has a different direction guiding you.
This particular piece of Walnut has sat on a shelf, with many other pieces of Walnut of the same age, and I have pulled it off of the shelf and placed it back on the shelf for the whole time I've had it. Always wondering what to make with it, and realizing it was too small to use for any project I had in mind. This piece was only 6.5" x 10" and turned out to be the exact size I needed for this project. I know from experience, that Walnut cuts nicely, and the customer adores Walnut. It was just meant to be.
I visit here often, and I learn a lot from reading through the posts. My questions get answered quickly and result in a solution. The projects on here are astonishing and beautiful, and I hope to one day be able to create similar results, and pay it forward.
