Wine Advent Calendar

Postby JoeBlow » Mon Nov 25, 2019 2:58 pm

A day after seeing the Wine Advent Calendar post my daughter asked if I could make her 5 of them for gifts. Not my usual fare but I thought sure why not. Besides, any file I have to create is good practice for me. Downloaded various Christmas Tree line art jpegs until I found one I liked and went from there. Holds 24 mini wine bottles.

The front and back are each sized to fit a 24"x24"x1/2" panel. Maximizing a 4'x8' sheet, 4 can be made. I've attached the file if anybody is interested. Please check all settings prior to cutting as I'm still a noobie here. Not even sure if I should have included my toolpaths. Use as you wish as this was made by me. Saved as a .crv file so those with V-Carve can cut as well. Feel free to offer up any advice, suggestions or critiques regarding my settings. I know I'm quite conservative with them.

Most of these I see online are held together at the top by a slotted cross member which I didn't like seeing protrude from the front. Instead, I used 2 keyhole fasteners https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-Keyhole-Hanger/3306354?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-hdw-_-google-_-lia-_-145-_-picturehangingand3m-_-3306354-_-0&store_code=1882&placeholder=null&gclid=CjwKCAiAlO7uBRANEiwA_vXQ-2InwFlFyFhjd4tc9TOzYL6PHcghMt_ck14kt_um61ZZnSlxZt-EUhoCgysQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds found in the picture hanger section of any big box store and 1 cross member. Holds nicely and no visual protrusion.

Looks Good JB,
Taking a look at it now
Thanks for posting, I know a few practising alcoholics that would be glad of one of these for Xmas (bottles included that is) :D :D :D :D
And it sure as hell is going to confuse a lot of them seeing that they are not in numerical order  (nice one)

Can you post a side view? I want to see how the front and back are joined.
Thanks

There are many ways to temporarily join the front and back sections, maybe you could have also used small sets of these for connecting the panels using some spars.

How many joining points have you got for by the base cutouts?
Just an idea

Absolutely Ed. The front and back are joined together in 3 places.....the 2 slotted legs on the bottom and 1 cross member at the top. Makes for easy disassembly and storage for the next year. When assembled and loaded it is quite stable.

Can't seem to orientate pic correctly. Sorry about that.

The small french cleats that C posted is really what I was looking for but couldn't find them. Probably a Rockler item.
