Question about 3d star height

Post by Stari »

Hey everyone,

Wondering what im doing wrong here, going to attempt to cut a Texas State Seal and the star in the middle will be 3d (hopefully).

My issue is I want the star to start at the top of the material and end at around .2in down. My pocket cut is going to be .2 depth so I was hoping it would all be level at .2in when said and done but I cant find a configuration that works.

This is all one a 1in piece of walnut.

I have a full 3d copy on my desktop but dont have aspire so I cant use it :/

I don't understand what you mean. Why can't you use the full 3D copy?

If you're just wanting the center star to stand proud why not create a vector around the start and use it to exclude the start from rough and finish toolpath operations. You could then use a v-bit on the vector around the star to give it a little edge relief.

It was a I guess a "ps" comment. It's a crv3d file and I'm kind of new to all this and it won't open on vcarve pro. So I haven't been able to mess with it.

I messed with that just didn't have alot of time. I'll have to go back again in a bit. But yea that's all I want is for it to start at the material top and the base to be at .2in without it digging into the pocket.

Well according to your settings you have a base height and a model height that adds to be 1" If you are not using a 3d model you would not need those settings. You would need to use the material set up making the material 1 " thick and going from there.

The star is the only "3d" part of it, the rest is just a pocket and cleaning out around the letters.

Okay guys I think I finally got it figured out. This is about perfect, atleast where I can sand the excess down and its not digging into the pocket! :D :D
