It is home decor. Cohen is 5, Sully is 2 IIRC. The clips below are so their Mom can hang up their art projects.mtylerfl wrote:Very nice. What kind of business is it? Are they painters?

Ha! Very cool! I completely missed that - it looked like a sign for a business to me. This is much better and more fun!Mobius wrote:It is home decor. Cohen is 5, Sully is 2 IIRC. Very nicely executed! I like it a lot. What fonts did you use?

It does looks very nice. How big is it?, How long did it take to cut?, are the letters cut out of the whole MDF board or are they "inserted" into the board?.
Just wanting to know your machining strategy, i.e. did you rest machine the letters as it looks like a large item.

Brian

It is approx 10"(254mm) tall and 34"(863mm) long. 3/4"(19mm) MDF, cut down to a depth of 1/16"(1.5mm).
I used the V-Carve tool-path, with an outside border slightly larger than the stock. Tools used were a 30º engraving bit with a 0.03"(0.75mm) tip, and a 1/2" (12mm) flat bottomed EM to clear out the majority of the stock, and to pocket an 1/4"(12mm) deep rabbet around the outside edge for the small MDF crown molding I used for the border. I want to say it took just over an hour to cut.
Now that you mention it, next time I may rest machine the letters with a separate (single tool) toolpath. May cut down on sanding time. Doesn't take much vibration or material flex or a slight Z zero variation when switching tools to make some ugly tool marks that then have to be removed.
