Rainy afternoon project: 76mm tapeholder

Post by wwjd »

-If- it would ever rain again, this would be a nice rainy afternoon project to make if you also have those ancient 76mm tapes lying round useless.

For me it was just an exercise which turned out practical and fun to use.
I am so pleased with the drawing possibilities in the vectric software! It was fun to see this tape holder get its shape just by playing around with the bezier curves etc.

Have fun if you make you own with maybe some better wood...

Great idea, thanks, I dropped our plastic tape holder and all the sand poured out of the bottom.
I really should make one of these now.
Is it heavy enough as it is or does it need some ballast?

@mtylerfl and @Timvmax: Thank you! :)

No it is not heavy enough of itself... For me it's not important because another sand filled tape dispenser I have here (not holder as I called it, revealing my Dutch origin ;) ) will move anyway.

This was a bit-of-a-rush-project so it does need some improvement...

But if you would make one, it is very easy to mill an extra pocket and fill it with sand via a hole in the bottom which you then close with some hot glue?

BTW1: the tape wheel file contains 2 wheel designs in seperate layers.
The one on the photo is a little more fragile than the other one, depending on the type of wood used.

BTW2: When I make a 1 inch core tape dispenser (soon), I will make this pocket so thank you for your suggestion!
