Proto-Type Gumball Machine

Needs a little tweaking --- Ramp is too steep sometimes Gumball bypasses the mark! --- Also need to look into gumball sizes because the small gumballs drop two at a time causing the gear to jam.

But overall not a bad proto-type gumball machine!!!

Just got finished this morning making some minor adjustments to the proto-type Gumball Machine.

Here are some of the things I adjusted and/or changed.

1.) Reduced gears from 3/4" thickness to 1/2" (Holes in inner part of gears for gumballs were allowing two gumballs to drop at a time causing the gear to jam against jar lid)
2.) Cut down top support board from 3/4" to 1/2" plus a little to match gear sizes and allow a little gap for ease of movement of gears.
3.) Cut dowel supports for top board to size.
4.) It was too late for the proto-type but on the production model I am lowering the ramp on the ramp board so the gumball doesn't travel so fast to the pit.

Note: You probably could use this gumball machine for Jelly Beans, M&M's or Skittles just have to make necessary sizing adjustments on the inner holes of the big gear.

After making the necessary adjustments the proto-type gumball machine functions flawlessly!!! Now on with some production models!!!

This is pretty neat! Thanks for sharing this with the world!
You'll have to create a video of the finished part in action so we can all see! :)

WOW! This is truly an honor to have a project recognized by a Senior Application Engineer from Vectric, Ltd.

Unfortunately, I cannot take full credit for the original design for it was created by another individual. I had found the photo of the gumball machine on the internet and took the time to draw it out into V-Carve Pro v8.5. But I will say that it was amazing how easy V-Carve makes the design drawing and tool path process. In fact, I believe that it may be time for me to finally make that bold monumental jump to V-Carve V9.

Rebecca Thank you for your kind words!!

I will have to set aside some time in my busy schedule to create a short video of the gumball machine in action to post on You-Tube with link to it here on this thread.

Everyone Have a Great Day!!!

I guess now I will have to go into the file and create it in a way for everyone to understand and post it here on this thread! The answer is yes in time I will see that it gets posted.

In my one of my previous posts I said I had made adjustments to the gear thickness sizes and the gear area support board. After researching gumballs I have found that there are various sizes of gumballs out there on the market. In knowing this you could actually create the gumball machine from all the same size material and purchase the gumballs to size to match the machine. I had no idea that the gumballs come in so many different sizes!!!
