Michaels Yummy cake pedestal hot off the machine. Thank you Michael for all the monthly projects , I do a lot of them. This one I made of Aspen , $15 bucks from Menards, so I didn't have to glue anything up. I know I will make at least 4 of these, for some ladies I know will Love them. Thanks again Michael.

Re: Project of the month
Here's our rendition of the Michael Tyler's Cake Pedestal.
I didn't know that a VCarve toolpath could be cut with a ballnose bit! I'm really happy to have learned that, and now will keep it in mind for future projects.
I made a few slight changes, one of which was to use the measure tool to "model a cross-section," and then use the resulting vector to cut the curved parts on the base with a moulding toolpath instead of the 3D toolpath. It created the same shape in a little less time, and the fluting toolpath can still be projected onto the 3D model for the same result.
Thanks not only for a great project that's both beautiful and functional, but also for teaching me some great techniques in your examples!
Andy

Thank you for your report, Andy! Good tip for using the Moulding Toolpath and is a good learning example as well!
