How long did you leave them outside to get the rust and patina. LOL!!!!
I'll have to show them to my oldest daughter. She's used such techniques to make accent border/trim in her houses.
Thanks for sharing.

Didn't take long at all. :P Although you can image my surprise when the MDF oxidized. Who knew sawdust and glue could rust?

I guess you used 3 different MDF types to get these variations. All the MDF types I used had very different behavior with moisture. We really need more info regarding these materials. :D

Very realistic finishing. Impressive.

It's not "different types" of MDF that make the panels look different. It's paints and patinas. I use Sculpt Nouveau brand metallics and patina formulas. Hobby stores have other brands. One can also simulate patinas/rust with acrylic paints applied, instead of chemical patina formulations (I've done it many times).

On a serious note: :D For reference these were done were done with Modern Masters iron/copper/bronze infused paints and their 'Metal Effects Green' oxidizer. I've always wanted to use the Sculpt Nouveau products, but they are special order/difficult to get here so I stick with the Modern Masters stuff.
