Fresh off the machine . Now I need to decide how I want to finish it. 16x12 3/4 deep

How about lacquer [or other sealer] then paint in the carving

I am thinking of using dyes to color it.that way I would be able to see the wood
I just need to work out how.This will be a good practice piece. there is an error I did
not see until after it was done. I need to keep the dye from bleeding. That may be
more then I can handle. If it does not work out paint covers all sins LOL.
