Hi All
Had the opportunity to carve a wedding sign for my step son. I thought it would be great if it was something a little more personal than the usual stacked text.
Thinking about their love of the outdoors and the wedding invite they sent that had snow capped mountains, trees and colors I figured I would utilize some of the stacked text process and see what I could do to incorporate some 3d components to it. Subsequent wedding information came with fir trees so it is why they are used instead of the Aspen. I could not find a good enough 3d model of Aspen.
This was more of an experiment that went right for a change. I did learn a lot but have been able to reproduce it, so it must be ok, right? it was a hit at the wedding.
Anyway, below is the final product and the invite that inspired me. Hope you like it. Thanks Vectric for the versatility to play.

That is awesome, you did a great job. What kind of paint did you use?

The combination of the texture and the color on the mountains is stunning. Quite realistic. No wonder it was a huge hit at the wedding.

Great work Bill, I would have been OK with a job like that right up to the point where I had to paint it
Sure that will be treasured for many years to come

Craig, sorry for the delay, but have not been online for quite some time. Travel and life etc.
Anyway, the paints are basically craft paint from Walmart. They have these small tubes/vials for 50 cents that come in a great variety of colors. They spread well and don't bleed. Then it is just a matter of using a good poly to seal it all in.
Martin, this one actually was easier to paint than some. It only took about two hours from start to finish, just had to wait to let it dry between sections. The trick is planning the order.
Thanks for the comments. it was a great project.
