Cribboard Crazy

Post by Mobius »

The last few weekends have been rather busy around here, with a recent order for 50 promotional crib boards! Not quite done yet, but another weekend or two and we'll have them knocked out.

Here is the finished prototype I made as a sample:

Still managed to find time to make a template out of aluminum for someone who wants to create their own crib boards but doesn't have a handy CNC to drill the holes:

Also made this little gem, which was originally going to be part of a keepsake box lid. I didn't like the pattern for that, so it went into the offcuts pile. I had so much success cutting that template out of aluminum, that I thought I'd give an aluminum inlay a try. So I gave that throwaway new life as a crib board. This will be donated to a silent auction for a local playground.

1/16" wide aluminum decorative track:

And, (this has nothing to do with crib boards) I finally found time to make a much needed storage solution for the growing pile of CNC and other router bits that were decorating the workbench. I swear I spent more time looking for a particular bit than doing actual cutting sometimes. Just need to make some labels to identify each bit by number:

Very Nice. I really like the back cover. The forethought for putting 2 c"bores in the main body to allow the cover to be put on in either orientation is a super idea.
Thanks for sharing.

Love the cribbage boards, especially the inlay one. I also like the picture that shows your workshop, I now have workshop envy (its so clean and spacious).
But most of all great idea, the cutter draws certainly something I need (not want).

regards

Thanks! It is getting cleaner all the time as we build storage and put things away. Should have seen it a year ago, could barely walk through it let alone work. But we're always saying we wish we had just another 10 feet (and 10 more after that, and 10 more after that ha ha.).

How in the world did you make that aluminum track? Excellent workmanship!

Same way I make everything, with the CNC ha ha. 0.08" sheet aluminum stuck down to the spoilboard with carpet tape, no tabs. Cut with a single flute spiral 'O' at 40 IPM and 0.02 DOC. I was honestly very surprised that it worked on the first go-round.
