Still playing. This time I tried the moulding toolpath, combined with the pocketing toolpath instead of fluting:

I probably should have placed a scale giving device into the scan. I did set the proper scale while working on the pattern by drawing a vertical line of the correct length of the bowl, then resizing the picture by dragging a corner until the picture matched the line.Playing with fire...wood.
