cigar box guitar

Made this last weekend for my oldest son. Drew the neck in VCarve Pro. Wasn't a lot some drilling for tuning pegs , pocket for the box lid, and a tapered head. Was pretty simple but sounds awesome with an amp with overdrive. Will make another for my youngest son too. They both are talented guitar players and have many expensive guitars each, but they love anything Dad makes them.

Nice job!
I've never built a fretless style but the three string CBG's or "shovels" do sound awful good in the right hands, played with a slide... specially in the hands of Justin Johnson

Scott,
Don't sound like that when I play
I lent the maple one with magnetic p/u to a band member that lives across the street over a year ago so he could play with it a few days ....he's still got, guess he likes :o
Shane Speal, Justin Johnson, Mike Snowden are some of the best players, you can check um out on youtube , enter their name or cigar box guitars

Glenn
I used a piezo mic in this one mounted on the inside back of the cigar box. I bought a Vox classic rock pocket amp so I could hear how it sounded before I gave it to my sons. It has many variations of sounds, and the slide makes it great. They will rock us on Christmas morning.

Also look for any video of Samantha Fish playing her red cigar box guitar. She really has it going in more ways than one. :D
