Cherry Clock for an old Yankee fan

Post by Phil »

I designed this clock for a friend (he is at 11 O'clock) the others are Yankee greats of old. There is method as to how to the numbers on the clock were chosen. I'm sure some will know the reason.

Well being in the UK & not really a big fan of any particular sport I wouldn't have a clue Phil

What wood have you used & is the frame painted or just a contrasting wood colour ? Hard to see from the pictures. Are the names painted ?

Martin, the wood is cherry, the frame is painted black, the names are v-carved and stained a darker color than the clock face. I'm waiting for someone to make a guess as to how I chose the names and their order.

Nice - BUT

Those in Mass on the West Side and those in Mass on the East side rout for different teams.

Nah - really - looks GREAT :D

OK, apparently there are no old Yankee fans in the crowd. All of the numbers, 1 - 10 were worn by Yankee greats of old whose numbers are retired, with the exception of number 2, Jeter, whose number will likely be retired in the near future. Also the numbers worn represent the associated clock number. Billy Martin wore number 1, Jeter - 2, Babe Ruth - 3, Lou Gherig - 4 , Joe DiMaggio - 5, Joe Torre - 6, Mickey Mantle - 7, Yogi Berra - 8, Roger Maris - 9, Phil Rizzuto - 10.

Phil,
I didn't know about the retired number part, but isn't that what I said.
The names represent the uniform number of the players.
You had already said you put your friend in at number 11.
Thanks,
Scott
