Not your Momma's V-carved sign...

Post by Mobius »

So my Father In Law slash business partner wanted a sign for his season RV site. This is what we came up with (sorry for the crappy cell phone picture):

A nice simple V-carved cedar sign.

Very cool! What is the font? What type of paint is that?

Font for the main lettering is called Penshurst.

This type project is one I've been wanting to do since the day we picked up the CNC. I pocketed a piece of acrylic into the back of the sign, leaving a 1/16" veneer on the front. The acrylic was glued in, and a piece of aluminum with LEDs attached was screwed on from the back (aluminum acts as a heatsink, support for the LEDs, support for the acrylic, and a reflective backing for the LEDs).

The end goal is to have a solar powered, color changing sign for the RV, sorting out the electronics and some sort of folding stand for the sign and the solar panels is the next step.

I'm very happy with it, the only issues I've had with it were due to my own assembly mistakes.
