Vcarve sign

Post by mpol0717 »

Finished up this cherry sign for a customer. Put a coat of shellac on before cutting, sprayed on the black for the letters after cutting, sanded, then finished. The font used for the first names was Birds of Paradise and the last name was David. Feel free to design your own!

Thanks for the font information. I believe I will be using the Birds of Paradise a lot.

Very nice job. Looks like the cherry may have a little spalting which really looks good. Dale

Me not being a woodsman have never heard the term "spalting" googled it and learned something new, sure does add a interesting pattern, nice sign.

Looks awesome! I will have to try PVC. I did not realize HD sells it. Thanks for the info. What department did you find it in? I tried looking online but no luck.

At my local store it is in the lumber dept. sold as non structural trim, comes in various profiles as well as boards to be used for facia, trim, brick molding ect. I think the brand name on mine was "Aztec" ? There are also other brands.

Are you masking, or spraying the whole thing and sanding off the black?

Thanks,
Mark

No masking, I painted the v-carve with acrylic paint from wal-mart then sanded the excess off with my random orbit sander. Quick, easy, & looks good.
