birthday present for my wife

Post by Bob Jr »

I saw this nifty cutting board made by Scott Lewis, and featured by Fine Woodworking, http://www.finewoodworking.com/how-to/v ... -ever.aspx
So I copied it as a birthday present for my wife. It is a nice combination of cnc and conventional woodworking.
It's one of those projects that looks kind of simple until you start looking at the variables, and procedures.

Very impressive. It's obvious it would take quite an effort to do manually, and I'm sure it wasn't trivial even with CNC!

Thanks,
It was fun watching Scott's video, then appreciating, and copying his technique. The cnc saved some time and added accuracy when cutting out the curvy profiles, but there was still a lot of gluing, then cutting into the finished work for the next band. And, making sure everything lined up properly while gluing.
Fun stuff.

...This seemed like a good picture to add. You can never have too many clamps:
