Re: Happy Halloween! Spider on web
You use 1/2 shank bits for your project. I am in the process of doing this project with 1/4" shank bits. I am now working the body segments in which you have used a 1/2" shank 3/4" pointed round over bit.
Are there any suggestions on other types of bits or tool paths that could closely resemble your spider body segments???

Check with Toolstoday.com, they have a 3/8" (3/4" roundover) pointed roundover with 1/4" shank. It's an amana so would be easy to find elsewhere too.

Here is my rendering of the Spider in a Web with all 1/4" Shank Bits.
When my 1/4" shank pointed roundover bits (.25" radius & .375" radius) come in we will give this .crv file a run.

Re: Happy Halloween! Spider on web
We are thinking ahead this year, already ready for Halloween, with a painted version of the Spider on Web. Painting by Erica.

Re: Happy Halloween! Spider on web
Finally ordered and received the 1/4" shank pointed roundover router bits.
As promised here is my carving of the spider in a web using all 1/4" shank router bits.
Preparing early for halloween this year.
Lost a little meat from spiders left leg (intend to build it back up with little water-based wood filler) then sand & paint entire project. I had used a common pine board for the proto-type, I intend to create another using a better hardwood next time. I will just have to adjust feed/speeds accordingly (soft wood vs hardwood).

Re: Happy Halloween! Spider on web
Love the spider nice work, good use of tools to create what looks to be 3d carving.
Here is a ghost i did a few years back and gave it to a little girl toward the end of trick of treating that night.
