Wine Glass Holders
This is a couple of wine glass holders that I did on my CNC. A local vineyard holds concerts on the grounds and these will be on our table. The wood is alder and birch and the engraving is filled in with coffee grounds and CA glue, then sanded smooth. The only finish I put on them is a paste made of bees wax and mineral oil.

Hi Bobby,
That looks really good. I never though to use coffee grounds like that. It really looks good in the picture. I'm going to give that a try.

Good design and execution. Wood turners have also been known to use coffee rounds mixed with epoxy to fill it knots.

very nice Bobby! You wouldn't be interested in sharing the file or at least the particulars? I would love to make one for my daughter-in-law. I've heard of using coffee ground but never seen it before it's really nice the way it came out. Tom

Re: Wine Glass Holders
Hello Tom, I attached the basic file for the wine glass holder. You can add whatever artwork you want to it. The inlay on mine, I v-carved with a 1/4" 60 deg v bit, filled the inlay with the coffee grounds, kind of pack it in, put CA glue on it and when it dries I sand it smooth. Sometimes you have to add more grounds and repeat the process. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to try and help out.
Also, I round over the edges and the bottom side of the hole that fits over the wine bottle.

Re: Wine Glass Holders
I thank you as well Bobby.
I tried a sample filling with the coffee grounds and CA glue but when I sanded it off if looked like it had tiny holes in it. There were no holes but looked like it. The coffee grounds were a day old and pretty much dried out but wondered if you used coffee grounds out of the can or already run through the coffee maker?

I love the coffee grounds idea! Those came out SO NICE!
If/when I try it, I'll probably use fresh coffee beans ground finely in my coffee/spice mill.

Re: Wine Glass Holders
Thanks for all the replies, they are greatly appreciated. I use fresh grounds mostly but if I do use used grounds they have been drying at least a week or two. I have also had the finished product look like it has holes in it where there were none. I think it is just a discoloration in the grounds, but not sure. If you do get areas that has small holes, you can fill them with more grounds, or if they are too small to fill, just keep adding CA glue until they are filled in.
Again, thanks for the comments.

Re: Wine Glass Holders
Really love the coffee grounds idea. Plan to try that sometime.
But for now we did another variation on the wine glass holder theme. This one has an unfilled carving, but my sister is working on painting them, so we'll see how the painted ones come out.
