Andy,

Thanks,

VCP, my first attempt at any 3d, using the free Vector Art 3d machinist.
Just set the model height I wanted and created a profile around the part to fit pocket in top

That's a great box. I download the hinge and plan to use it on some of the boxes I'm making. Love the design of the box and was wondering if you had the plans for the box (not the engraving but the box only). could use it.

Thanks Much Skip.

Skip,

These 2 vectors are all I used, but I epoxy laminated the maple and walnut to a thickness of 2.250
Used a 3/4 x 2 straight bit to pocket and a 1/2 x 2 1/2 for the profile
Used 1/2" thick material for top

Depending on your machine you may have to adjust

I was playing with your file yesterday and scaled it up to 12" width, then rounded the border and added a wicker weave to the lid. I'll probably add a centerpiece with a name once I figure out who it will be made for.

The box shape sort of resembles a straw fly fishing tackle box that I have seen in the distant past, so I added the wicker. Thanks for the vectors. Though this is an Aspire modification for the top panel, you can do a lot with it using wildlife or other line drawing vector art designs and Vcarve toolpaths.

Glenn, We love the Dresser Box design. We first did one with the same deer drawing that you used, but then got feedback from those of the feminine persuasion that they would like something a little less "masculine", so we did some with this rose pattern, also from the Vector Art 3D website. I understand there are some new features in VCP 8 to make this easier, but we haven't had time to learn about them yet. Hopefully soon....

Great design, and, once again, great hinge!

Thanks,
Andy and Marty

Andy and Marty,
They look great. The profile of the box was actually from Spalm, I made one of the jewelry boxes he designed and liked the shape.
