Colt 1911

Post by mickecarlsson »

I did this for the local club.
Used Vcarve Desktop, imported a STL file of a Colt 1911. Did three passes, first roughing with a 6mm end mill, second roughing with a 1.5 mm end mill, finished with a 20 degree carve bit.
Second roughing

Here is my Vcarve-file.
All measurements are in mm.
As the file was quite large, I could not upload it with the tools and gcode. The file was 12MB large, I tried to ZIP the file, it went down to 4.7MB, still could not upload it.
So, the attached file is without toolpath. Sorry about that.

Thank you for the file. Also, I wasn't sure about the wood. It looks like it has a lot of spalting in it but on the other hand I felt I was looking at minerals in the wood. Regardless, it looks great.

That looks really good.

It's amazing what you can find in a piece of scrap wood.
