Unwrapping train gets really weird

Post by wdwkr53 »

I am having trouble with this train unwrapping. I can do a long somewhat round object like a handle & it does fine with all sides. But when I use the same import technique, it gets weird. I can't seem to sort it out on my own. I uploaded screen shots to help explain what is happening. Diameter = 3", Length 6", Middle of object, Z = 3", Wrap X2A. My actual goal is to do a lion's head for the top of a walking stick that has a barley twist as the handle. Any suggestions?

Make sure you have the "Discard data below Zero plane" unchecked and when asked if you want to unwrap the model,,say yes..

The result is the same. The video says that unwrapping will ignore the last 2 checkmark options anyway.

I would look at your setting again.
Here are some pictures of what I get when I unwrap a model.
Make sure you are clicking on "Yes" to unwrap it

I finally got it by CENTERNG the train before importing the model. After that, I could get it to work every time. I do remember something about if the original is way off in space, then centering it will at least give you some place to start. I guess I will continue centering the objects and try some more. Thanks for you help.
