use core box cutter instead of ball nose on chamfer?

Newbie question - I am wondering if I could use a core box cutter set up as a round nose in VCarve 8 to use on the chamfer gadget instead of a ball nose?
Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a larger core box bit and think it would be much quicker. The shape of the bits is the same except for the size and wanted to seek opinion before I risked running it on machine and doing damage to me or machine. Machine is cnc shark pro hd extended.

bit in question is a Freud 18-112 3/4-Inch Diameter Round Nose Router Bit with 1/4-Inch Shank

For all intents and purposes - that is the same to the CNC code as a ball nose end mill

I've done something similar to what you described. I wanted a cove profile on an item I made, so I went to my drawer of regular router bits. I had to set up two toolpaths for the border of the frame; one for the cove cut and another for a full cut through with a straight bit.
