I am trying to cut dovetails at 30 deg like the demo show.
I am able to cut the joints but where the 30 deg angle goes down and is then followed up with the cutout (outside). There is a small ledge where the cutout does not go down all the way to the bottom of the 30 deg angle.
⅛" 2-flute, flat bottom bit
1/2" Birch plywood - measures .453 and is setup this way

Re: Dovetail Gadget
I am trying to post a picture but for some reason I cannot get it to upload. It just clears the window and never responds?

Picture of Joint
Issue is that the joint is not flat at the bottom. I have seen this in the preview in Aspire and other videos on Youtube of the gadget usage.

Re: Dovetail Gadget
Hi Kevin,
It looks to me as though the material is not the thickness specified in the software.
The ledge has to be there because the tool is radiused, If we didn't include this extra cutting then the corner of the dovetail would not fit.
It is automatically filleting the joint for you.
Hopefully this makes some sense, it is pretty hard to explain without a diagram.

Re: Dovetail Gadget
Adam,
I have been working on this for a couple days and I am close to getting better joints. I am thinking of trying no angle and see how well the joints look.
Thanks,
Kevin
