Re: Regular Grid Gadget
The importer supports USGS DEM files, HGT (SRTM data), files, PTC files and ArcInfo ASCII files as standard. It is possible to write plugins for other formats. Instructions for that are in the install folder for the gadget.
As long as the file fits the criteria in the "How it Works" section of the gadget download page it should be fine. I've used it to import NASA geodata without problems.
There seems to be a bug with the ASCII one that I'm going to report to Vectric. It's easy to fix if you need that particular format.

Re: Regular Grid Gadget
I was wondering if anyone has developed a plugin for this gadget that works with a GEOTIFF file format.

Re: Regular Grid Gadget
The problem with GEOTIFF (at least from all the samples I've seen) is that it's an image file format rather than a text file format like the others.
