Workaround for controls that do not interpolate rapid moves

Post by Zcases »

My Fadal with the CNC88HS control apparently does not interpolate rapid moved. Yeah ,,, dissapointing, I cant even find a setting, just the way it is I suppose.

So my workaround idea, since I want to interpolate and go point to point even on rapids (to avoid clamps, etc) is to change the post to output G1 for rapids.

How can I tell the post to always write out a G1 for rapids.......Or would it really just look like this.....can it be this simple? What "gotchas" will "get me" ? hmmm.....thanks for any thoughts....

+---------------------------------------------------
+ Commands output for rapid moves

begin RAPID_MOVE

"[N] G01 [X] [Y] [Z] F400"

That should work, but I always save a file to G-code and closely look over the G-code to see if the post-p is doing what I expect it to do.
