rotary with 3d not cutting pattern correctly
rotary with 3d not cutting pattern correctly
Hello, I am cutting a fish pattern purchased from design and make. The preview shows that it is perfect. See pictures. However on the material it is not cutting properly. It is missing
detail. I have aspire most up to date version. I am completing a rounding toolpath and a roughing tool path, then a finish. This is the third go around with it. Can anyone tell me what is
happening? and how to correct this? I have not changed the origin on the x or y. Thank you

Your preview shows flat material. What does the wrapped preview look like?

What post processor are you using?
Is your rotary parallel to the X or the Y?

rotary is parallel to the x
Luguna turner mm.(NC)
I use the same post processor for the rounding and roughing tool path

What is your process to set Z-zero for your finishing bit? However on the material it is not cutting properly. It is missing detail.
What, exactly, happens during the finish pass?
Is it cutting any material?
After the toolpath is complete Does the machine return back to home correctly?
That model is included with Aspire and VCarve so you should be able to post a link to the .CRV3D file if you put it on drive.google.com or dropbox.

Re: rotary with 3d not cutting pattern correctly
To set the z zero, I have a block that is the exact height of the z zero for my machine. ( I have the z zero set for the middle of the cylinder, not the surface). I zero the z height to the top of the block.
The start of the model it cuts exactly as it should with the tail of the fish. When it gets to the mid point it will cut each side of the model but misses the middle and one half of the head of the fish.
The machine does return back to home at the completion of the tool path.
I will look at posting the link, to drive.google.com or drop box. I will do that now. and let you know.

Re: rotary with 3d not cutting pattern correctly
There was nothing obviously unusual in the NC file you shared. I was really hoping you would share the .CRV3D file.
If it looks correct in the preview then we are dealing with a machine, controller, or post-process or issue.
Have you tried changing the direction of the cut, so rather than going back and forth around the cylinder, you raster back and forth in the X direction? When it gets to the mid point it will cut each side of the model but misses the middle and one half of the head of the fish.

I have not tried changing the direction. I will do that today.
I am sorry I didn't send the correct file.
I do appreciate your help.

Update, I called Laguna and they tell me when I updated the Aspire software my post processor is not correct in the update. They are sending me the correct processor to install.
