Split Column with Inlay Strips

Postby Rcnewcomb » Sun Jun 02, 2019 1:28 am

Trying inlay strips in a piece of redwood I machined as a split columns. About 15 minutes machine time including the roundover. I started with two 2x4s that were held together while being machined.

Not even IN my world, BUT...

It really isn't that difficult if you have a rotary axis.

I've tried to come up with a simple, repeatable process to machine items like these in under 30 minutes (some as quick as 7 minutes). I hope to do a presentation at the Denver User's Group this Fall.

No rotary, and I'd have to put it on the back of my machine if I did. LOUSY wheelchair access, what with my DC/cyclone behind my mobile stand.
IF I did, I probably would be Attempting Tiny 3D Critters :D

I'll leave this stuff to you guys for the time being:)
Good luck in Denver Randall!!

Maybe on of Gary Campbell's SideWinders would have better accessibility.
