CNC 4th Axis Rotary Indexer on eBay from China

Postby ClaudioG » Fri Mar 30, 2012 3:10 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has purchased or has any further info on some relatively cheap Indexers on eBay

Type 1 is here;

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CNC-Router-R ... 3a719c6ab8

It is around US$250 plus shipping and has an 80mm chuck and 6:1 speed reduction using a pulley

Type 2 is here;

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CNC-Router-R ... 860wt_1037

It is around US$330 or US$380 (not sure why) plus shipping and has an 80mm check and 50:1 (or 100:1) speed reduction using a "gapless harmonic drive reduction gear box"

2 variations of tailstocks are

and

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CNC-tailstoc ... 570wt_1037

Seems like a good option for those of us who don't want to or can't build their own. Just got to decide the pros and cons of each design.

I've uploaded these pics for future reference once these ebay links stop working.

Just wondering if there are any other options I should be looking at for small, inexpensive rotary indexers?

Certainly like the idea - just wish I was a bit more financial at the moment.

I would also be interested in experiences or technical tips with these Chinese indexers. After all, the products are calculated at prices which do not make it worthwhile to construct oneself (unless these products are crappy in which case any cent spent of them would be a waste).

Thanks guys.

Have decided I will probably go with the 2nd type with the enclosed gear box. Apart from keeping waste away from vital parts, I'm hoping it's a little more sturdy.

Just wondering what speed reduction I should be looking for? Is 50:1 too slow? I've noticed most people go for a 20:1 for their DIY indexers, but not too sure of all the pros and cons.

I never bought one and my CNC hasn't had a run for a few years now but must get back to it.
