my new problem when roughting A axis make 0 to 360 and go back to 0 and my cutter make vibration in my stock when it make pass because in one direction it is in climb and in other direction off rotation it is in concentional is it a solution to make it continuous ?

What control software are you using?

Re: continuous turning problem
hi Bob, i use mach3, when i use CNCwrapper all is good for rounding stock, i think it's normal because CNCwrapper make the A axis circomference x width for A rotary is it a tips to make the same in aspire, because for small rounding in 0 to 360 all is good but in 360 to 0 it make rought cut and vibration and make the small stock to vibrate and in some case crash.

Re: continuous turning problem
I have cut a few rotary pieces. When I
read up on how everyone was doing this
someone said that he Z axis needed to be slightly
off center of A. I don't remember how far I
offset mine, but I cut my spirals just fine.
Hope this helps!!

Re: continuous turning problem
Bob, for spiral and flutting no problem a all on 2 or 3" stock but when i go down to 5/8" rounding, the back and forth 360 deg made some vibration in my stock i've made a test in continuous turning with CNCwrapper no problem.
help me i've got 10 honey dipper to make with engraved name.
if it's to difficult i made it with a woodlathe and got back to 4th axis for engraving

Re: continuous turning problem
Hello Michel,
Aspire does not include continuous spiral rotary cutting.
Maybe cutting along the axis help with the vibration.

Re: continuous turning problem
With that small of stock you may be getting deflection of the material between centers when the cutter moves against it. I know when machining metal on a lathe there are following centers (supports) to keep the stock from deflecting away from the tool.
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
Re: continuous turning problem
Ok Tony, but vibration come when routhing toolpath make return 360 to 0 but when it go from 0 to 360 all was fine, and jc,i've don't overtight my free point to avoid the deflection and i've don't notified deflection unti it make a 360 to 0.
tank's for all you reply and maybe an upgrade to continuous rotating ?
