NEW resources for Design and Carve customers
I am pleased to let you know that we are in the process of implementing a new page on the Vector Art 3D website which will give Design and Carve 1 customers access to some additional files and tutorials. To access this page it requires us to have tagged your account as a DC1 customer. We are in the process of doing this and should have everyone updated by Monday. Most customers should already be tagged but if you own the DC1 product and don't have access to this by the end of day Monday 29th March then please email us at info@vectorart3d.com.
The link to this page is on the "Returning Customer" page which you see when you log-in to your account. If your account is tagged you will see a link which says "Design and Carve Resources" click on this to access the page.
To kick things off we have put 3 models up which are not included on the disk (fox, grouse and elks fighting - see below for images) and a couple of short video tutorials, one showing how to use the crv3d Animal and Scenery resource files on the disk and one showing how to set up machining for a part with vertical walls recessed into the material, there is also a CRV3D reference file for this second example. We have no specific timetable to add new content but will email when we add things to the site.
We hope our DC customers find this new resource useful and that it helps to add even more value to the DC product.
Regards,
James
PS - If anyone reading this is not familiar with the DC1 product you can read more about it here:

Well there goes the usual Friday afternoon workshop clean up!
Playing around with some new models and watching some videos sounds like a lot more fun to me.
Thanks James.

Re: NEW resources for Design and Carve customers
James, Thank You for the new animals. These are just a bonus from owning the CD.
The tutorials are what I really appreciate the most, I learn more from them in a few hours, than a few months on trying to figure some of these things out myself. I continue to use your tutorials far more than I expected, there are more uses than you suggest on the CD's. You have really shortened my drawing time.

Re: NEW resources for Design and Carve customers
Thanks for positive comments. I hope to add a couple more things in the next few weeks as far as tutorials go. I also hope to add some thumbnail images too to make it a bit more user friendly.

Re: NEW resources for Design and Carve customers
Just added a new tutorial to the DC Resource area and couple of Aspire files which go with it showing how to make a chip-carve effect rustic frame - as shown in the image below. This shows the useful technique of making a toolpath preview into a component and using it as a texture.
Cheers,
James

Thanks James,
I can't wait to have some time to look at the new tutorials this weekend, I do learn a lot from them.
Thanks,
Rick

Re: NEW resources for Design and Carve customers
Just a quick note - Tim (Merrill) pointed out to me this weekend I made a typo in the rectangular frame video. On the roughing I should have put in 0.075 for the boundary vector offset as that plus 0.05 allowance would add up to 0.125 (radius of the cutter). This does not cause a problem but would make the boundary a little bigger than described. I will aim to replace the video this week with a corrected version and also have another new one to add too.
I should probably contract Tim to proof-watch for me before I post things in future
Cheers,
James
