A friend gave me two big walnut slabs to carve on. Here is the first one. Took 3.5 hours to rough in, 9.5 to carve. Slab is 44" wide, 23" high, 2" thick and carving is 1.25" deep. Used 1/2" EM to rough, 1/16" tapered ball to finish, and 1/32" tapered ball nose to do some fine detail in the animal faces and smaller ducks. Coated with several layers of shellac with final layer of varnish. All objects from the D&C series except for the tree on the left.
