Your rapid feed rate may be set to high as well. If the move consists of both the x and y axis having to move at the same time the inertia may be a bit too much.

Video is great - helps a LOT.

The noise when the machine hangs up is losing steps.

I think you may need to adjust the accel and decell. That is the speed that the axis ramps up and ramps down as it changes direction. If is tries to get up to speed too fast is chatters and hangs up. It that time it looses steps then everything is out to lunch.

You may also want to be sure that all the slides are running freely and smoothly. You don't want anything too loose either.

Some lubricant certainly doesn't hurt either.
