NOOB question reagarding Mach 3 video card requirement

Post by SIBUD »

Their site says that to use a 32 bit desktop computer it must have:

"Non-integrated Video Card with 32MB RAM"

Most of the PC's I've been looking at have integrated video.

Would I need to purchase and install a separate video card to run Mach 3?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

I'm no Mach3 expert, but if I'm not mistaken, the software can be downloaded freely and runs with a 500 lines or so limitation before registration.

Just give it a try.

I have been running Mach3 on a relatively low end computer.

I do not have anything fancy for a video card.

Today's computers are pretty powerful.

If your computer is somewhat new - say less than 5-6 years old - it may be fine.

I would absolutely try it - before buying a special video card.

How much does it cost to try it?? If it works you're done and you didn't spend the money.

How much does a video card cost - and if you didn't need it - you spend money for nothing.

Try it - without the video card!!

Thanks for the replies. I'm not set up yet and over thinking stuff.

I'm doing a remodel of my shop to have an area for CNC and until that is finished, I promised myself I wouldn't start setting up the new toy.

Have to keep myself motivated to complete the shop first.

I've always run Mach3 on an integrated video motherboard.

Used two or three different ones with never a problem.

I think any new computer you would buy would be 64-bit. They would also come with Win7 or Win8 64-bit.
