broken bit in the middle of carving

Post by Bill Moore »

I broke a bit in the middle of a piece. Can someone tell me the steps to restart? I have not moved the router. It is still setting where the bit broke. I am using Aspire and WinCNC. I have saved my home position. I am a real newbie so I need step by step instructions. If this was a simple design I would just start over but I have several hours into it.
thanks for any help.

I am by no means an expert but, if you know what line you were up to, can you delete the part that has already been done and start from there?
That's how my sewing machine works.

Take note of the line #.
Up at top of WinCNC, the file/edit ect clickers that give you options, you'll see a restart file option.
The aborted file should be there, back if off 100 lines or so ... When you put in a new bit, obviously you will have to remeasure the tool. I'd re-initialize the machine as well, in case the drag from the broken bit caused it to lose position. Don't worry about leaving it at the exact same spot, you'll have to move it to get the new bit in anyhow. Once thats done, you should be able to restart the project close to where it aborted, hopefully with good results.

Kathy,
Did you resolve the problem.
The answers here and on the Camaster forum are correct.
It's just like re-starting a file

Give me a call if you are still having problems.

:?: I am missing something. I have watched the videos and read all the posts on this topic I can find.
I have the starting point marked on my board, written down and saved ....
I initialized my machine,
did the touchtop,
measured the tool,
recalled the project and entered the line #
when I hit the enter key to restart my computer goes out of the program looking for another file?????
I am at my day job now but any suggestions would certainly be welcome.
Thanks Kathy
