I built a small 3 axis 24"X24" CNC Mill with a maxmium speed of 35 inch per minute a couple of years ago. At first, it did the job, but now I need more speed, bigger work area and the 4th rotary axis would be nice. I have Aspire, Photocarve, and Mach 3.
I am not sure if we are supposed to do this, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Art-Router at the following website http://www.thomcarr.com.
The price is pretty good and it has a rotory axis.

Re: In need of more speed and larger table
And only 3 grand. Kewl!!
I have a home built 24x24 that I started with All thread and got rapids of only 18 IPM but proved the concept.
Then i went to 1/2 Acme 2 turn 5 start and can get between 150 and 200 with the dampers on it. That is with 425 oz. motors. Thanks for the website as I was wondering what ratio I might need with a 4th axis, seems like a 4 or 5 to 1 will do it. I think that will be much easier to obtain.

That is what I was asking too. I would like to purchase one soon, but I am a bit scared. They seem like a good machine and the specs are just what I am looking for and the price is right.

You could try asking on the CNC Zone also. I would really like to know how it works also.
Please, do keep us informed Wally.

Re: In need of more speed and larger table
i have read some pros and cons of the machine, i would suggest finding some owners for actual reviews and what and how heavy thier applications are, could be a good machine and all machines have a purpose for me it looks light.

You might also take a look at RoMaxx CNC. I have a WD-1 and it's a great machine. Well built and it has been very reliable.
It's a small shop and Ron Rogers is the Owner, developer, and support. The WD-1 is a 24" X 36" machine.
